The Margate City Center makes up an area that will one day be the reinvigorated heart of downtown Margate.

One of the projects currently underway is the Margate Boulevard Streetscape Project. This project began on February 27, 2007.

Another aspect of the City Center project, has been the CRA's acquisition of properties. This first step is a necessary step in the process of redevelopment when the City hopes to have input on the what the future holds for the City.

The Transit Oriented Corridor (TOC) Amendment allows for mixed used development along the 441 corridor and will be heard by Broward County in March. Approval is expected in September 2007.

The next step in the process will be to put out a request for proposals (RFP) to developers to redevelop the City Center area.

In May 2007, the MCRA attended the International Conference of Shopping Centers (ICSC) where they met with developers interested in the opportunities in the city.
